Why Rent-a-Student (Employers)

Students for part time placements

We are SA’s leading student placement company. We provide top quality students with 80% Undergraduates and 20% distance learners or other people. All our students registered with us because they want to get ahead and enhance their future career opportunities. Basically, we did not ask them to join us (we are a register non-profit and have not budget for marketing). In over 10 years of operation, we have had 1 employer complaint, 2 employers not pay (did pay eventually), 6 student complaints. We have placed over 250,000 students with hundreds of companies and have over 240 job categories. No job is too large, no hours too long, no location not covered by our students.

What is in it for you?

No more sifting through hundreds of emails and CV’s, all our students are registered with us and pre-vetted for you!

Each student is pre-vetted and verified as right for YOUR placement. Students get a summary of the work required, dress code, person to meet, GPS location, dates and times. Lateness or “no shows” are not tolerated.

Students will never ask for advances or other expenses. We make it our responsibility to get them to the placement. You pay us and we pay the students period.

Students are liked, approachable, smart, tech savvy and reliable. Usually we send the students over to the placement to commence day 1 or after some training from you. However, you may request interviews (telephonically or person to person). Please note a fee is charged for this to cover student expenses and our additional time (normally R250 per student).

We have placed over 1/4 million students over 10 years, we know all the tricks and antics. Trust us, we have had almost everything thrown at us. Let us handle the students, you provide the placement opportunity. ANY issues you encounter, however small please just let us know. We have an exemplary record with students and clients alike, let this continue.

Tens of Thousands of students ALWAYS willing to work.

Reserves ready and waiting in case needed on most jobs (on average we get 50 applicants per placement).

A flexible part-time group of smart people who understand what is needed and are willing and able to complete almost any placement (that’s legal and moral)!

  • They are available at any hour, throughout the year;…ANY TIME
  • They are available on a nation-wide basis; …ANYWHERE
  • We can provide 1 student or a hundred+ depending on your requirements e.g. TV audiences for lipsync battles, sporting events (nedbank golf), taste tests etc etc we have over 240 placement categories.
  • Rent-a-Student was established in 2005. Since January 2012 we have invested in our concept and fine tuned our Modus Operandi;

Please remember, we may also ask you for references as our students safety is of paramount importance.

Anyone looking for Gig Economy workers, you hit the jackpot. Please see https://www.juststartsmart.com for more details of thousands of tech savvy Students worldwide.

Last, thank-you for looking at this page. Our students need all the help we can give to time. A big “bless you” from us to anyone who offer any student a placement – a win-win!!

Hi John. I’m one of five directors of a small luxury goods distribution business which is expanding rapidly. We need both a part-time sales rep and online store controller (someone pursuing the relevant studies); ideally one person who can undertake both tasks. I’ve just submitted advertisements for the two positions. Is this the best way to go about looking for the right student?

Apologies for the tardy reply, been moving home. Rates depend on hours. We charge min R200 for each session as otherwise students will not arrive (they have to pay taxi fares etc). Otherwise if over 3 hours, then R60-R80 per hour. Email me directly if you wish to proceed. john@rent-a-student.co.za

I have not used your website before but it seems as if it will be very handy. 🙂

I am looking for a student (or students) who can deliver information leaflets (flyers) to schools and some businesses. They will not be required to do handing out of flyers. The student(s) must reside in Pretoria and have their own reliable transport. Please advise on rates and how this could fit in with your company.

I also require tutors (Afrikaans and English speaking) for high school students… if you have anybody who is interested.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Hi John

Do you every send out notifications to appropriate applicants? Do you allow the employer to view and select from applicants?

    • Comment made by John on Dec 12th 2015 at 11:26 am: Reply

Elizabeth, for large jobs we filter applicants and can provide a service (chargable) to employers if they wish. For small jobs (1-2 students) we typically just put the employer in touch with the students and/or have the students apply direct to employer rather than via ourselves.
